GO RUSH!! Yu-Gi-Oh! GO RUSH!!遊(ゆう)☆戯(ぎ)☆王(おう)ゴーラッシュ!!Yūgiō Gōrasshu!! Anime series Directed by Nobuhiro Kondo Studio Bridge Network TV Tokyo Original run April 3, 2022[1] — No. of episodes 22 Yu-Gi-Oh! GO RUSH!! is the eighth Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series and the seventh main spin-off series. It began airing in April 2022.[2][3] The series stars Yudias Velgear as the main protagonist. Like its predecessor, Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS, GO RUSH!! focuses on Rush Duels. The series introduces a new Type of monster, the Galaxy Type.[2] GO RUSH!! also introduces Equip Spell Cards. Episodes[edit] Synopsis[edit] Yuhi Ohdo and Yuamu Ohdo are elementary schooler twins living in Mutsuba Town who are in charge of the alien extermination company UTS Ultraterrestrial Trouble Solutions. They spend their days working really hard searching for aliens using a mysterious device created by Yuhi... that is, until one fateful day!! Right after they created a mystery school club, they finally found a real spaceship and inside of it, they made contact with Yudias, an alien from the distant Velgear Star Cluster. Yudias has come to Earth, after he and his comrades were chased from his native star cluster, seeking a way to a new future, which "Rush Duel" seems like it might offer a means to do so, but knows nothing about it. Yuhi challenges the newbie Yudias to a Rush Duel in order to give him a helping hand. This is first contact between elementary school students and aliens, via Rush Duel![4] Now it's time to enter the new stage of Rush Duel introduced by this alien soldier from the far ends of the galaxy! Let's go, Go Rush!![2][3] Development[edit] Bridge once again returns as the main animation studio, after taking over for Studio Gallop beginning with Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS. Masahiro Hikokubo is again composing the series' Duels. The characters are designed by Kazuko Tadano and Hiromi Matsushita. It was decided to focus the series on aliens, as director Nobuhiro Kondo and the staff wanted to ensure their second show was accessible to people who hadn't heard of Yu-Gi-Oh! or Rush Dueling, but didn't want to simply repeat the plot of Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS, so they decided to make the protagonist an alien as they felt someone not from Earth would be the best choice for someone who didn't know about Rush Dueling. While there were concerns about aliens getting mixed up with Monster Cards, Kondo felt characters like Trapigeon Kayama proved audiences could differentiate between the two; Yudias was initially planned to be more "alien", but it was decided to make him more human to make Duels more easily understood. Consequently, GO RUSH!! is intended as an easy entrance show for people who want to get into Rush Duels, so the early Featured Duels clearly explain "Summons" and "activating a Spell Card" for the purposes of fans who never could quite grasp what was going on in previous shows. Despite this initial basic approach, Kondo stated his intentions to ensure that the Duels will be bizarre and showcase a variety of cards, given the alien nature of many Duelists in the show.[5] The COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions surrounding it made casting for GO RUSH!! difficult, as the staff were unable to hold mass auditions. Arthur Lounsberry Yudias Velgear, Toshiki Kumagai Yuhi Ohdo, and Koko Fukushima Yuamu Ohdo portray their characters as a team; Kondo liked the idea of younger actors Kumagi and Fukushima growing into their roles and hoped the series would serve as an entry point for careers in anime.[5] Trivia[edit] Unlike many of the past spin-offs since Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL, Yu-Gi-Oh! GO RUSH!! is directly linked to the previous series, in this case, Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS. Yuhi and Yuamu Ohdo share the surname of Yuga Ohdo, the protagonist of Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS. Several characters share surnames and voice actors with characters from Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS Manabu Sogetsu shares the surname and Japanese voice actor of Gavin Sogetsu, and closely resembles him. Manya Atachi shares the Japanese surname and voice actress of Mimi Imimi Mimi Atachi in the Japanese version and closely resembles her. In his dog form, Bochi closely resembles and shares a name with Bochi, the pet dog of Toshihiko, a friend of Mimi's son Yosh Imimi; Bochi himself shares Yosh's voice actor. London Kirishima shares the Japanese surname and voice actor of Roa Kassidy Roa Kirishima in the Japanese version and closely resembles him. Makeru Kurimoto and Miranda Ichimaru resemble older versions of Masaru and Nico and share their voice actors. Notably, neither Masaru nor Nico had stated surnames in SEVENS. Ranran Nanahoshi shares the surname and Japanese voice actress of Rayne Nanahoshi, and closely resembles her. Rovian Kirishima shares the Japanese surname and voice actress of Romin Kassidy Romin Kirishima in the Japanese version and closely resembles her. Galixon Tazaki, Mr. Yagi, Ms. Maki, Ms. Purisaki, Mr. Omaeno and Mr. Taira closely resemble Galian Townsend Galian Tazaki in the Japanese version, Briscoe Nick Yagi in the Japanese version, Sushiko Maki, Gibumi Purisaki in her civilian guise, Toombs Ushiro Omaeno in the Japanese version and Tyler Getz Getta Taira in the Japanese version respectively; Tazaki, Yagi, Maki, Purisaki, Omaeno and Taira all share voice actors with their SEVENS counterparts. When Tazaki, Yagi and Maki were revealed in V-Jump March 2022, the promotional material asked if they had been seen before, possibly suggesting they were the same characters as adults, though Tazaki's first name was later confirmed to be Galixon. The other two adult members of UTS also resemble characters from SEVENS; Janko Entant and Caterpillio Zomyoji. Venus Ganiko resembles Celestia Noodlina, Finger Chikako, Sweets Kakoko, Flash Umiko, Hire Yureko and Konvoy Sagawa, sharing their collective Japanese voice actress and use of "ko" in one of her names. A figure resembling Celestia Noodlina is seen as a background character in the Alien Residential Area. The main town is Mutsuba Town, after Mutsuba Heavy Machinery and its heiress Asana Mutsuba. Mutsuba Heavy Machinery operate in the town. Their president, Asaka Mutsuba, closely resembles and share the surname and Japanese voice actress of Asana Mutsuba. The Ramen Hut operates in the town. Yudias Velgear uses a Goha Enterprises Duel Disk as opposed to the new model introduced by GO RUSH!!; the new model itself projects a blue "G" over its surface, possibly in reference to Goha Enterprises. This model of Duel Disk has apparently never been seen by the general public, and was given to Yudias by a figure resembling The☆Yugaman, though Yuna Goha recognizes it. The Goha Company are stated to be the creators of Rush Dueling; their president is Yuna Goha, who uses many cards that were used by Yuga Ohdo, including his ace monster "Sevens Road Magician". In Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS, the six Goha Siblings were the presidents of Goha Enterprises and each referenced a previous Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series. This is the first Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series not to feature an opening theme song in the first episode. Like SEVENS, this series has a more comedic and lighthearted tone compared to the previous series. Following Go To Acting for Two Yuuna Inamura voices both Yuzu and her Fusion counterpart, Serena. Kensho Ono voices both Yuya and his Fusion counterpart, Yuri. And then there is Zarc. Mai Fuchigami voices not only Grace Tyler, but also Ray. Yui Ishikawa voices Olga and Reira Akaba. Manabu Sakamaki voices both Tsukikage and Hikage. Masamichi Kitada usually voices Roget, but he also voices one of the Obelisk Force mooks that challenge Tsukikage in episode 89. Many minor characters share the same seiyuus. And in the English version, this is taken to extremes where the main characters are concerned. Michael Liscio, Jr. voices Yuya, his dad, all of Yuya's counterparts, and presumably Zarc. Similarly, Emily Jenness voices Zuzu, all her counterparts, and presumably Ray Akaba. Billy Bob Thompson voices Declan Akaba and Gong Strong. Amateur Cast Most of the cast of ARC-V consists of new voice actors, but a notable aversion is with the protagonist Yuya Sakaki, in a series first. Whereas all of the protagonists in the previous series have been voiced by newbie voice actors, Yuya is instead voiced by Kensho Ono, who, by the time of ARC-V, had already been an established voice actor with a handful of roles under his belt. This makes him the first Yu-Gi-Oh protagonist since the 1998 anime series by Toei to be voiced by a notable voice actor. All-Star Cast Despite the show casting mostly newcomer voice actors, there are still some big names voicing prominent characters. Kensho Ono voices the main protagonist Yuya, his Evil Counterpart Yuri and the Big Bad Zarc. While most of the Yu-Gi-Oh! protagonist are voiced by newcomers, Ono was a well established VA prior to playing Yuya. Yoshimasa Hosoya voices Yuya's main rival, who is also the Big Good of the series Reiji Akaba. Hosoya was already well known for playing Reiner Braun in Attack on Titan. Yui Ishikawa voices Reira Akaba, one of the supporting characters; as well as Olga, a minor character. She is well known for playing Mikasa Ackerman, the main female lead in Attack on Titan. Anime First As with GX and 5D's, the anime of ARC-V premiered first on 2014 while the manga series both the official version and spin-off were released in 2015. Celebrity Voice Actor Yuto and Yugo are voiced by Takagi twins Manpei Takagi and Shinpei Takagi respectively and both of them were well established actors prior to landing their voice acting roles in arc v Melissa Claire is voiced by Yuka Hirata who is a famous Japanese actress and gravure idol. Creator Backlash Tsutomu Kamishiro seems to have not had a pleasant time of working on the series, as his Twitter name was "FuckTheYugioh" before he deactivated his account. Cross-Dressing Voices Sora is voiced by Mie Sonozaki. The other children are also voiced by women, regardless of the gender. In the English dub, played straight with Tate, Sora, and Riley. He Also Did Series composer Kotaro Nakagawa was also credited for his work on other anime, including Scryed, Planetes, GUN×SWORD, Code Geass, Psychic Squad, Gosick, Inu × Boku SS and Prison School. I Knew It! Due to numerous theories, there were some that were bound to be right. Several fans guessed that Dennis helped kidnap Ruri before episode 75 was released, based on the episode summary. One of the more popular theories that was proved correct was that Yugo and Yuto's hatred of the other was because they mistook the other for Yuri. A few fans picked up on the fact that when the Lancers rejoin in the Fusion Dimension with only Crow apparently tagging along form Synchro, only Tokumatsu and Shinji were mentioned as having urged them to go. Not Jack. And indeed, he shows up in episode 121. Even since Yuya created Destruction and Creation Magician, fans have guessed that the Dragon Boys and Bracelet Girls were each a single entity once. The reveal of Zarc and Ray proved them right. Episode 128 proved the long held theory that the any of the eight counterparts with familiesnote were adopted. Milestone Celebration The 73rd episode of ARC-V marked the overall 777th episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise, which was celebrated with a special opening showcasing all the previous anime protagonists as well as Yuya. Name's the Same There's a female character in Love Live! also named Shun Kurosaki and with only one kanji apart from ARC-V's Kurosaki's name on top of that!. Ryozanpaku is also the name of the dojo from Kenichi The Mightiest Disciple The Original Darrin After being replaced by Tom Wayland for the later episodes of 5DS, Christopher C. Adams returns as the voice of Crow. Real-Life Relative The seiyuus of dimensional counterparts Yuto and Yugo are twin brothers. Referenced by... Your usual gaggle of Abridged Series. Relationship Voice Actor Yuya and Reiji are also known as Basketball buds. Know that Yuya and Sora were Vaan and Ashe in previous lives makes their dynamic very Yuya and Hokuto's duel becomes rather interesting when you realize both their voice actors how been at each other's throats before in Though in this case, Yuya/Slaine won. Even though they haven't had any direct relationship, in another universe, Shinji is a shinigami and Dennis is a demon. Oh, and the latter one hates the first for interfering with his homework. In English, Yuya, Zuzu/Yuzu and Ally/Ayu are Clemont, Dawn, and Bonnie. Similar to how Aki had a Super Sentai actress Deka Yellow and Kyoryu Cyan, we have three Sentai alumni in this series. Yuto is GekiBlue, Shay is Kyoryu Blue and Yugo is Akiba Red II. Role Reprise The alternate universe versions of GX, 5D's, and ZEXAL characters who appear in this series are voiced by the same Japanese voice actors who originally voiced them in their respective originating series. Same in the English version. Star-Making Role Shun Kurosaki is Yamato Kinjo's major debut VA role. Screwed by the Network The Nicktoons broadcast schedule was erratic, with premieres often being delayed or outright pulled from the schedule with little-to-no advance warning. Nicktoons had to skip the entire second season just to catch up with the rest of the world. Significant Double Casting In the English dub, Yuya, Yuto, Yugo and Yuto are all voiced by the same person Michael Liscio, Jr. because they're all entities split off from Zarc. Spoiled by the Merchandise Several cards during the era were revealed long before they ended up making an appearance in the anime proper. Odd-Eyes Saber Dragon, Enlightenment Paladin, and quite a few of Yuya's Magicians being an example. Talking to Himself Yuuna Inamura, who plays both Yuzu and Serena. Manabu Sakamaki, who plays both Tsukikage and Hikage. Kensho Ono, who plays both Yuya and Yuri. Up to Eleven in the dub for both sets of counterparts, who are all voiced by the same actor/actress. In the dub, Grace and Gloria Tyler are both voiced by Alyson Leigh Rosenfeld. Teasing Creator In nearly every Yu-Gi-Oh! series, each character has or gains a Superpowered Evil Side, which is seen by fans to be one of the best parts of a show, and actively and eagerly await for any new protagonist to have one. ARC-V delivers on the evil side, but takes a crack at the audience with Yuya's dark side he was originally a normal entertainer who, in order to appeal to increasingly demanding and bloodthirsty fans, became more violent and cruel in his duels until he and his monsters went mad and turned against them. So the start of this character's downfall is because the audience wanted it - and since the real-life audience wants that sort of thing, they're also to blame. Action Cards have long been a Scrappy Mechanic among the fandom. They get some mixed reviews throughout the series in-universe by characters new to them, and Jack and Sergey's duel has an important point being them ignoring Action Cards, to say nothing about Gongenzaka's opinion of them. It reaches the point where Surprisingly Realistic Outcome occurs in episodes 104 and 105, when both Edo and Kurosaki grab an Action Card, only to discover that its effects will not help them at all. Troubled Production By many accounts, Tsutomu Kamishiro was a big sufferer of Schedule Slip, and frequently turned in scripts late. This resulted in rushed situations elsewhere—most notably, Yuya-Zarc's rather uninspired look. He also butted heads with the rest of the staff, as he wanted to push the series in a more cynical direction. Series director Katsumi Ono, previously having worked on Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's, was a major figure behind the Synchro arc being as long as it was while the other arcs were shortened. Staff had to siphoned off to work on the 20th anniversary movie during the later parts of production. Reiji's Japanese VA also had a busy schedule, forcing the character's role to be limited. What Could Have Been Word of God stated that Yuto and Yugo were intended to appear in the first episode. Their clash is later shown as a flashback in episode 18. That's also why Dark Rebellion is obscured in said flashback even though its appearance was already revealed. Kensho Ono was originally going to voice Yuya and all of his counterparts. It was later decided that he should voice Yuya and Yuri since they are polar opposites in terms of personality and the Takagi twins would voice Yuto and Yugo in the voice similar to Ono's. This did, however, happen in the English dub, where Michael Liscio, Jr. voiced Yuya and all his counterparts. Similar to the Barian Observer element of ZEXAL, episode summaries talked about another plot element that was likely dropped. Episode 121's summary mentions Reiji's mother having some sort of scheme going on. How this would fit into the story is unknown, but the implication is that she would become an antagonist. Yugo was supposed to have white hair but the creators opted to have his D-Wheel and his suit white instead. The Wiki Rule Yugipedia which forked from the old wiki in 2018.Misc. Trivia Yuya has used more Extra Deck summoning methods than any other previous protagonist from any previous series. Fun Fact Yuya has used 'Performapal Silver Claw' as a material for the summoning of monsters corresponding with each Extra Deck summoning type at least once. For the first time in any Yu-Gi-Oh! series, the various Duel Disk designs are actually commented on in-universe by the characters and are used as a way for the characters to determine which dimension they come from, such as when Sora thought Serena, who was protecting Kurosaki, was Yuzu until she activated her Duel Disk and saw it was from Academia. That said, a lot of the big events of the story really have to be brought up at least in some form to explain why its so bad. I imagine, especially for people who have not watched the series the whole way through, a 1/10 grade might come across as kind of extreme for this series. Technically speaking, it does have a functional and even expansive plotline, a good amount of buildup especially early ... Apr 22, 2017 Good lord, I never thought I'd see such a train wreck of a Yu-Gi-Oh show. So I will begin by prefacing this, this show is bad and the fact that it's bad has nothing to do with the hype it was receiving, that's just an excuse people use to defend garbage and they are more than likely lying through their rectum holes but fail to see that lie through their impenetrable condom of bias and utter ignorance. So let's just get to it because lord knows I'm not gonna change anyone's opinion if they still think it's good because they've drunkenly stumbled past the point ... Mar 26, 2017 Yugioh Arc V is the 5th installment of the Yugioh franchise, it is not the best anime within the franchise. This is my second review, it is just updated The storyline starts a bit slow and repetitive sometimes near the beginning because it was meant to introduce to Pendulum Summoning as its main concept in dueling. The story does get interesting after episode 20 by how it introduced the darkness within Yuya and his counterparts. In addition, the story does become unpredictable and interesting as its strong points. Yet, it is not prefect on how the plot does feel rushed near the last couple episodes. It ...
